Evening Out

My favorite dress is one I bought from Target in high school. It fits perfectly and I love the feel of the material. It's my go-to event dress but I'll also pair it with a blazer or a sweater for work. And since it's from Target, it wasn't a splurge! Northwest Pearls: Evening Out

What's a great item of clothing you have?

Holiday Neutrals

Northwest Pearls: Holiday Neutrals Here's one of my favorite dresses re-styled for a holiday party. I love wearing this dress. It's pretty versatile. You can dress it up like this, or for work with a blazer and lower heels, or down with a sweater and flats.

Christmas Classics

Here's another outfit for the holidays. I am loving this skirt and sweater. I probably should have restrained myself from buying them, but they're so pretty! It's perfect for some of the Christmas parties this season! There are a few rows of beading along the neckline, which pair well with pearls. I wore my favorite pearl earrings from National Geographic. Next time I think I'll add a pearl bracelet to the outfit.

Lauren Ralph Lauren Dress

I saw this dress on a mannequin at Macy's a couple of weeks ago and went in search of it in the store. After a few minutes of searching without finding it, I finally asked an employee where I could find it. It turns out that the one on the mannequin was the last one left in the store. So I asked if she could take it off of the mannequin for me and she obliged. The dress is sleeveless and versatile. I can dress it for a cocktail party, for a day at the office, or for hanging out with friends. I'm excited to wear it around!

Pink and Black

It's a little hard to tell, but my top is a light pink and has lace around the neckline. A friend of mine wore a similar outfit recently which is what inspired me to pair these piece together. Once it gets a little colder, I'll probably ditch the heels for some boots.

Have you had anyone inspire an outfit lately?

Holiday OOTD

I bought this velvet skirt from Kohl's a couple of weeks ago. I love it, but it's not a piece I could wear for just anything. I'm planning on wearing it to a few holiday parties this year and maybe for Christmas. The skirt is from the LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection. It also comes in blue and black.

I paired it was a loose black top and sweater, but it also works with a tighter top, and I'd like to see how it goes with a crop top like this Topshop top or this Topshop top. The skirt waist is high, and if the crop top is long enough, I think I might like it.

And, the best part about the skirt: it has pockets! Why can't they make every fuller skirt have pockets? Seriously, how hard could that be?

Little Black Dress

Two of my favorite little black dresses are from Target, proving that you don't always need money to get great clothes. I love this dress; I paired it with some jewelry and a clutch from my grandmother, and my nude heels. Northwest Pearls: Little Black Dress

The necklace and bracelet are from my grandmother, as is the beaded clutch. You can't fit a ton into the clutch, but it fits just enough and the beading is beautiful.

Shoe Comfort Hacks

It's important to have comfortable shoes, but I also like to have cute shoes. Sadly these two don't often go together. But there are a few ways to make shoes more comfortable.

Northwest Pearls: Shoe Hacks

You can stretch leather shoes out with wool socks and a hair dryer. I found it better heat-wise, to wear two pairs of socks on each foot that I was using the blow-dryer on. The second pair protected my feet from the heat better and it probably helped stretch the shoes out a little bit extra.

What you do is put on a pair of socks, or two, and them put on your shoes. Take a hair dryer and blow hot air onto the areas of the shoes you want stretched out. Do this for a while and let the shoes cool back down before taking them off. I've done this and had success on widening out a pair of my sandals.

Something else that can make shoes more comfortable is an insert. Superfeet makes an insert for both high heels and for flats. I use their high heel insert and while it doesn't make heels as comfortable as flats, it does make them considerably better. My mom and sister both have the Superfeet flat dress shoe insert and they both really like it. I'm going to see if it'll fit in a pair of my boots and if it does, I'll probably get one for myself.

Even cheap inserts or padding can help. You can add it under the heel area, the forefoot area, or to the back of the shoe to prevent blisters or to take up space.

Do you have any suggestions on making shoes a little more comfortable?

Yellow, Cream, and Navy OOTD

A few years ago I got a cute plaid pencil skirt, and to go along with it, I bought this shirt from Target. I decided to try pairing it with a new skirt of mine from Marshall's and really liked the look. Northwest Pearls: Yellow, Cream, and Navy OOTD

This skirt is so comfy, I've been wearing it pretty often with 3 or 4 different shirts. And I'm glad I got these heels, they're low, but they do give me a little height; and they're pretty comfy, though they did take some time to break in.

Has there been a piece of clothing you've been wearing a lot lately?
