Thanksgiving Treats

Northwest Pearls: Thanksgiving Bakery Treats For Thanksgiving dessert, our friend bought Chocolate Pecan Tarts and cookies from Phoebe's Pastry Cafe. Our friend brought about eight of the tarts to Thanksgiving dinner. All of which came in a big white pastry box with the bakery sticker on top. I think it's cute that the logo design has a "P" incorporated into the baker.

I love Chocolate Pecan Pie so I had a tart. It was amazing. I could have eaten a second one. I can't tell you how much I loved the tart, but I finished every last crumb on my plate.

We never got into the cookies, but they were decorated really well and looked yummy. I like how the leaves aren't a solid green, but have  three different colors.

I'm definitely adding Phoebe's Pastry Cafe to my list of places I need to try. I'd like to see how the rest of their food is!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Table Setting I'm thankful for my family, who loves me unconditionally and pushes me to be my best. For my friends who are always there to talk, laugh, or cry with. For my pets who are always willing to be given pets or treats. For my education. For my health. For my job. For a place to live. For food. For political, religious, and personal freedom.

I've been incredibly blessed for the life I've been given. Not everyone has the same privileges.

What are you thankful for today?

Homemade Cinnamon Cranberry Sauce

Northwest Pearls: Cranberry Sauce A group of us had Friendsgiving this week. We each brought a side dish or drinks and met up for the dinner. One of my favorite Thanksgiving dishes is the cranberry sauce. So that's what I volunteered to bring.

For the recipe I used:

  • 4.5 cups of cranberries
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon

I put the cranberries and the water into a pot and cooked them until the cranberries were popping. Then I stirred in the sugar and the cinnamon. I cooked it for a few minutes before taking it off of the heat and setting it on a different burner.  When it had cooled down a bit, I transferred the sauce to a serving dish and covered it before placing it in the refrigerator. It was good to eat then, but I had made the dish three days in advance so that when Friendsgiving came around, I could just pull the dish out of the fridge and go on over.

The dish was incredibly easy to make. I was worried about it because I'd never made cranberry sauce with cinnamon, but I heard a few of my friends compliment the dish when they didn't know who made it.

Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Here's a few pictures of what we did for our Thanksgiving meal. I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving Table Setting

These napkins were a wedding gift to my grandmother in 1943. The plates were also hers.
