Ivywild School

Northwest Pearls: Ivywild School While we were in Colorado Springs, we ate at the Ivywild School. Ivywild School was formerly a school and now it's a conglomeration of stores and restaurants.

We had dinner one night in the Teacher's Lounge, located inside the Ivywild School. I ordered the French Onion Soup with a side of Roasted Vegetables and a Ginger Beer (non-alcoholic) to drink. The ginger beer was amazing.

And we had lunch another day at Bristol Pub, also located inside the school. For lunch I ordered the Warm Bacon Vinaigrette Salad and a Ginger Beer. The salad was so good. I ate every last bite. We also passed around a small bowl of toasted almonds which had garlic oil, red pepper flakes, and some other yummy ingredients on them.

The food at both places was fantastic. And on one of the days we were there, they had a farmer's market outside. I didn't buy anything but one of the bridesmaids bought some of their goods.

If you're ever in the area and looking for food, Ivywild School has some great selections!

The Broadmoor and The Golden Bee

Northwest Pearls: The Broadmoor While in Colorado Springs for A's wedding, we went to The Broadmoor hotel a couple of separate times to get delicious pastries and to get food. The Broadmoor is a magnificent hotel in southern Colorado Springs. It's gorgeous, and some of the interior design rivals manors I've seen in Europe.

I went by myself and got a delicious fruit tart from a cafe. Later that day I returned with the other two bridesmaids and they got pastries. One got the Rosewater Macaron and I tried a bite. It was amazing.

We walked around the grounds with our pastries and took in the scenic views. There's a path that goes around the lake and a bridge that divides the lake. You can see the mountains in the background from the lake and all around the hotel are amazing gardens and fountains.

And the next day, after A's wedding, another one of the bridesmaids and I stopped at The Golden Bee for food.

We sat at the bar and she got a Scotch Sour (instead of a Whiskey Sour) and Scotch Eggs (I think but I'm not sure that's what her food was called.) I got what I believe was called the Our Beer Cheese Soup. It was amazing and I had a sip of her drink which was pretty darn good too. We went while the piano player was there and there was a sing along book for people to sing along with. It was so much fun, I've never been to a bar or a restaurant quite like that.

The Broadmoor is a beautiful place, their staff is so nice, and their food is delicious.

Have you ever been to The Broadmoor or to the Golden Bee?

Bachelorette Hike at Garden of the Gods

For the first part of A's bachelorette party, we went on a hike at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. But it wasn't just a hike, it was a hike with llamas. Northwest Pearls: Bachelorette Hike at Garden of the Gods

The llamas carried some of our water and led the way. I've been to Garden of the Gods and was expecting to go through the paved and manicured paths, but we went up into the hills behind the main area.

There weren't as many people up in the hills on the trail, but the ones we did see were interested to see a bridal party that involved llamas.

The bride wore a sash that said "Bride To Be" and the rest of us had pins that said "Team Bride." I found these things at Michael's in their wedding section.

The hike was really beautiful. There were some gorgeous viewpoints of the rocks.

We hiked to an area with picnic tables and got out our lunches from a car we'd parked nearby. The llamas were tied up nearby and were a source of interest for everyone going by. After our lunch we hiked back through the main area to where we'd parked our car.

When we got back to the cars, we went to a house where, with a lot of help, I'd gotten decorations, food, and drinks to celebrate with a few more people than could make it on the hike. It was sort of a combo bridal shower/bachelorette party, but it was fun.

Have you ever done a bachelorette party that's been out of the norm?
